She grew up in Denton, TX and has been performing since elementary school, singing in children’s choirs, at churches, and at sporting events as a soloist and band member. Margaret was heavily involved in her schools’ choir program and had the honor of being selected for the Texas All-State Mixed Choir in 2020 and 2022. Today, Margaret performs frequently around the DFW area accompanying herself on piano and performing with instrumentalists in duo and full band groups.
Margaret is currently pursuing a degree in Jazz Voice at the University of North Texas, studying under Rosana Eckert and Jennifer Barnes. At UNT so far, she has had the privilege of performing and recording with the award winning UNT Jazz Singers, and has sung with the UNT Latin Jazz Lab Band and the Commercial Music Lab band. Margaret has been heavily involved with the Latin Jazz program since her time at UNT and in addition to being the vocalist for the Latin Jazz Band, has also participated in the Brazilian and Afro-Cuban percussion ensembles.
Margaret has taught voice and piano students in her own studio for years, but is excited to meet new students at LSMA. When it comes to teaching her students, the number one thing that she builds is a love of music! She believes that music should be fun and engaging and hopes to spark passion for this art form in each of her students. She teaches general musicianship and healthy technique to build confidence and comfortability in the student’s abilities. Margaret is so excited to join the LSMA team and looks forward to guiding new students on their musical journey!
