Nico Clark is a string player and educator with a passion for both classical and jazz/creative musical contexts. In 2023, he earned a Bachelor’s degree in String Music Education from the University of North Texas under the guidance of Dr. Elizabeth Chappell. He also worked closely with mentor and colleague Dr. Eugen Kim, with whom he developed and applied innovative pedagogical techniques in jazz string education—a field he aspires to revolutionize by integrating ear training and intuitive musicianship into K–12 music programs.
As part of his undergraduate training, Nico completed his student teaching at Centennial High School in Frisco, Texas, where he further honed his skills as an educator. Throughout his studies, he gained extensive experience in performance, teaching, and composition.
In March 2022, Nico was selected to perform alongside legendary vocalist Kurt Elling in a landmark collaboration with composer Richard DeRosa titled Life in Poetry and Music. His jazz composition skills have been further refined under the mentorship of acclaimed jazz vocalist Rosana Eckert, with whom he created a diverse portfolio of original live and electronic music demos.
Nico is currently completing his Master’s degree in Jazz Studies at UNT, specializing in jazz cello performance under the mentorship of Grammy Award–winning jazz violinist Scott Tixier.
He is thrilled to join LSMA and looks forward to sharing his passion for music and his expertise with his students.
